Choosing an e-juice is never an easy task. Your mind is constantly wracked with what ifs, and whys. The debate between VG vs. PG is never an easy one to decode, especially if you’re new to vaping or e-cigarettes and unsure what means what. Let’s break down the VG vs. PG and uncover the best e-juice for your vaping needs!

Okay, to start with we need to explain what e juice is and what are the ingredients which make up e-juice. E-juice is made up of four main ingredients:

  • Propylene Glycol (PG) – PG is what gives you that ‘throat hit’ in e juice. It’s a thin liquid, with no taste that carries flavor well. By itself, PG won’t produce a lot of vapor and a those wishing to quit smoking are recommended to try an e-juice with a higher PG ratio.
  • Vegetable Glycerin (VG) – VG is what pumps out those massive clouds you see many vapers producing. VG is made from vegetables and is a thick, slightly sweet liquid that doesn’t carry vapor well. It also doesn’t vape well on its own unless you have a high-powered vaporizer setup.
  • Nicotine (NIC) – Pharmaceutical grade nicotine is utilized in many e-juices, but how much or how little nicotine you have in your e-juice is up to you! When you first quit smoking and start vaping, you should start with a higher nicotine level and then work your way down to zero nicotine.
  • Flavoring – This is where e juice gets exciting! There are thousands of different e-juice flavors to choose from. Some of the popular e-juice flavors are fruits, drinks, candy, tobacco, desserts, and foods. The only limit to flavors is your own imagination! Flavoring is specially designed to be used in e-juices, and it’s recommended to avoid regular food flavoring.

Most vapers recommend utilizing a PG/VG ratio e juice to get the best of both worlds. A decent throat hit strong vapor production and delicious flavor. The most common ratio for those new to vaping is 50/50 PG/VG, while the most common e juice available is 30/70 PG/VG. For strong vapor production and a delicious flavor production, you need to choose an e juice which has a strong VG to PG ratio.
